Accessibility Statement — averylaw-nj.com

Accessibility statement for averylaw-nj.com — Avery & Avery's commitment to WCAG 2.1 AA compliance, with a (201) 943-2445 alternate channel for

Effective date: May 5, 2026.

Avery & Avery, Esqs. is committed to making this site usable for the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities. This statement describes the firm’s accessibility approach and provides an alternate-channel contact for content you cannot access.

Our Standard

The site targets compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). The Astro-based site shell uses semantic HTML, ARIA landmarks, sufficient color contrast, keyboard navigation, and descriptive alt text on every image slot.

What We Have Done

  • Layout uses semantic landmarks (<header>, <main>, <nav>, <footer>) so assistive technology can navigate page structure
  • Every image slot in the firm’s stock-photo manifest carries descriptive alt text
  • Form fields have associated labels and help text
  • Color contrast meets or exceeds WCAG AA contrast ratios for body text
  • Keyboard navigation works site-wide; focus states are visible
  • The site avoids auto-playing media and avoids motion that cannot be paused

Known Limitations

The site is a launch-version build. We are aware that:

  • Some PDF documents (e.g., scanned legal forms linked from blog posts) may not be fully tagged for screen readers
  • Some embedded maps may rely on JavaScript and may not have a fully equivalent text alternative
  • Backdated blog post images may not all be optimized for low-contrast vision

We treat each of these as a known issue, not a goal-state.

Alternate Channel

Reporting an Accessibility Issue

If you encounter a specific accessibility issue on this site, we want to hear about it. Please call (201) 943-2445 or stop into the office and describe what you encountered (the page URL, what you were trying to do, and the assistive tool you were using). We respond within five business days.

Continuing Improvement

We treat accessibility as continuous work, not a one-time audit. The site is reviewed periodically against WCAG 2.1 AA, and improvements are merged to production as part of the firm’s regular site maintenance cadence.
